On nipping over to the kitchen to make a brew, I spotted a jug of flowers gifted from my mum and decided to have a go as it’s quite a while since I’ve painted flowers. As the kettle boiled we got the wonderful news that a new family member has arrived safely. Welcome to the world Florence, these are for you. I went to paint more apples and quince in my studio but the light was changing outside and was so wonderfully distracting I just had to turn to the door and paint it. The time flew by as I captured the changing light moving into evening. They will take a week to dry but I can post out if anyone fancies one as a Christmas present. £75 each including P&P. The square ones are painted onto primed mount board and the oblong are onto wood, so can be hung without a frame. They look great on a book shelf or dresser, in amongst your other treasures. #painting #dusk #evenings #clouds #sunlight

A wet cold Friday afternoon was perfect for a run out to catch the Winter exhibition @midwalesarts A venue that always provides a great variety of exciting, thoughtful and fun work. Something for most tastes and appropriate pricing. I was so taken with the current show I completely overlooked taking any photos and the cafe was closing, so I missed out on their delicious cakes. A lesson learned, leave more time to enjoy this gem of a gallery. Current works include printmakers Andrew Baldwin, Paul Croft and Gini Wade, paintings by John Smout, Mary Lloyd Jones, @jemjanie @diggle.contemporary.art @catrin_williams_artist @june.forster.3 and super sparkly sculptures from @andrewlogansculptor A true feast for the eyes and soul. And I got to listen to radio Cymru and get some Welsh practice in on the journey there and back. #exhibition #art #gallery #feedingthesoul

Great exhibition of paintings, original prints, ceramics, glass and weaving at Stiwdio Maelor, Corris. The opening on Sunday afternoon was really busy and bustling with visitors, artists and locals. Open most days 11-4, but do message ahead if you are making a special trip. Well worth a visit, over 4 rooms of works, of various prices. Last weekend I was gifted some quince windfalls to paint. I knew I needed to get onto it as they were a bit bruised and the pressure has worked. I’ve been working again in oils after quite a break. I put an old CD on that I used to practice with, set up and got going hoping I would find my way back and onwards with this beautiful medium. I do love the smell too! So the weather isn’t bothering me just yet as it’s pushing me into the studio for more studies of quince and apples. I could be happy here for quite a while.
